Men's Soccer: Smeltzer Buries Three Goals in Titans' Opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Senior midfielder Jarred Smeltzer (Wilmerding, Pa./East Allegheny) scored three of the Westminster College men's soccer team's four goals in a 4-0 non-conference win at La Roche on Wednesday in both teams' season opener.

Smeltzer scored Westminster's first goal on an assist from senior goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley). Smeltzer also potted the Titans' third and fourth goals on a penalty kick and on an assist from sophomore midfielder Josh Cantella (Freedom, Pa./Freedom), respectively.

Freshman forward David Osae (Bedford, Texas/Lawrence D. Bell) scored his first career goal for Westminster's second tally of the game on an assist from junior midfielder Pete Cline (Freeport, Pa./Freeport).

Codita made five saves in 60 minutes in goal for Westminster as the Titans outshot the Redhawks, 18-6.

Westminster plays two games at Marietta this weekend against the host Pioneers Saturday at 7 p.m. and against Wooster Sunday at 11 a.m.
