PITTSBURGH - The Westminster College women's basketball team was one of only three teams in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) that Chatham never defeated since the Cougars joined the league in 2007. That changed Wednesday night as the Titans lost 60-50 at Chatham for their first loss against the Cougars in nine all-time meetings.
Westminster falls to 2-6 on the season and 0-3 in the PAC, while Chatham improves to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the league. Thomas More and Washington & Jefferson remain the only teams in the 10-team PAC that Chatham hasn't defeated since 2007.
Senior guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) led the Titans with 11 points, followed by junior forward Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) with 10 points.
Senior Kayla Hilko led Chatham as she scored 19 of her season-high 22 points in the second half.
Chatham went on a 12-2 run after the teams were tied 48-48 with 3:34 remaining. Nine of the Cougars' 12 points during the run came at the foul line. The Cougars were 17-20 shooting from the charity stripe for the game.
Westminster returns to action at No. 12-ranked Thomas More Saturday at 1 p.m.
