Women's Basketball: Wooster's Second-Half Run Unravels Titans

WOOSTER, Ohio - The Westminster College women's basketball team lost a non-conference game at Wooster, 69-48, on Wednesday. Wooster outscored the Titans, 26-7, in the final 11:50. Both teams' records are now 3-7 on the season.

Junior point guard Kaitlin McCarthy (Lowellville, Ohio/Lowellville) led the Titans with 11 points on 5-9 shooting from the floor. Senior guard Amy Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald) also scored eight. Freshman forward Andi Ridge (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Starpoint) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go with four points.

Kym Wenz led the Scots with a game-high 23 points, including 10-13 shooting from the free-throw line. Kaitlin Krister also scored 11 points while snaring a game-high eight rebounds. 

Both teams shot evenly with Westminster firing 30.5 percent (18-59) and Wooster at 32.9 percent (23-70), but the Titans were victimized by 27 turnovers to Wooster's 12.

Wooster led 29-27 at halftime, and after McCarthy drained a jumper to keep Westminster within two points (43-41) with 11:50 to go in the game, the Scot then went on a run. Wooster went on a 20-4 run to take an 18-point, 63-45 lead with 4:17 remaining.

Westminster returns to conference action at Waynesburg on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
