Men's Soccer: Titans Lose Another Close One at Fredonia State

FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Westminster College men's soccer team lost its fourth straight game by one goal on Wednesday night when the Titans traveled to Fredonia State and lost 1-0 in non-conference action. It also marked the second time in the last three contests that Westminster lost a game in the final four minutes of regulation.

Fredonia State (4-4-1) scored with just over two minutes left as Eli Lubberts collected a long through ball from John Grabowski which came from the opposite side of midfield. Lubberts buried his shot from outside the 18-yard box to the opposite corner and behind Westminster junior goalkeeper Lance Leathers (Pleasant Gap, Pa./Bellfonte).

The Blue Devils' goal was their first in four games (269 minutes). Fredonia State outshot the Titans 17-1 in the second half and 22-9 for the game.

Leathers made six saves in net for Westminster, while Thom Cavanaugh kept the clean sheet for Fredonia State with five saves for his second shutout of the season.

Westminster (5-6) opens Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday at Waynesburg for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
