Men's Soccer: Titans Win Weekend Invitational by Beating Point Park

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team won first-place in the Westminster-Grove City Soccer Invitational by defeating Point Park, 4-2, on Saturday at home.

After junior Stephen Rossi (Oakmont, Pa./Central Catholic) scored early to give Westminster a 1-0 lead, Point Park answered with goals by Dustin Hess and Miquel Alvarez to take a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute of the second half.

The Titans quickly answered in the 56th and 58th minutes on a goals by junior Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) and freshman Coty Hainsey (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) with each player assisting on the other's goal.

Lott finished with a goal and two assists as he also helped on Rossi's goal. Junior Ian Hill (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) also added an insurance goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) made eight saves for his second win. The Titans out-shot the Pioneers 23-7.

Hainsey, who also scored a goal in Westminster's win over Mount St. Joseph on Friday, was named to the all-tournament team and was named the tournament's offensive MVP. Other Westminster players on the all-tournament team were sophomore Aaron Zavora (Westmoreland City, Pa./Norwin), who was named defensive MVP, along with Lott and Rossi.

Westminster will host Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
