CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. - The Westminster College men's and women's soccer teams collected their first conference wins of the season at Thomas More Saturday in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
The Titan women (8-2-1, 1-0 PAC) won 3-2 while the Titan men (7-4, 1-0 PAC) triumphed 1-0.
All the goal-scoring in the women's game took place in the second half as Thomas More's Megan Hobbs struck first in the 49th minutes followed by Westminster sophomore Sarah Nee (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) scoring goals in the 57th and 66th minutes.
Nee now holds the team lead with 11 goals this year.
Thomas More tied the game in 69th minute on a goal from Michelle DeZarn; however, Westminster senior forward Christina Adams (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) netted the game-winner in the 81st minute. Adams finished the game with three points as she also assisted on Nee's second goal.
Westminster junior goalkeeper Lindsey Mellott (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) registered nine saves to get the win.
In the men's game, senior midfielder Garrett Horvath (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll) scored the game-winning goal just 3:16 into the match on an assist from junior midfielder Jarred Smeltzer (Wilmerding, Pa./East Allegheny).
Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) made six saves for his first shutout of the season.
Thomas More's men's team is now 7-2 (0-1 PAC) and its women's team is 5-5 (0-1 PAC).
The Westminster men's and women's teams return to action at Saint Vincent for on Wednesday, Oct. 8 for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m. with the men followed by the women at 4 p.m.
