NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Freshman midfielder James Gross (McDonald, Pa./McGuffey) scored the only goal as the Westminster College men's soccer team shut out visiting Grove City, 1-0, Tuesday night in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Harold Burry Stadium.
Gross scored at the 76:11 mark in the second half when his deflected shot beat Grove City goalkeeper Sean Osborne on a throw in from junior forward Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum).
The goal was Gross' third of the season.
Westminster sophomore goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) registered his fourth shutout by making three saves.
Westminster improves to 14-5 on the season and 6-0 in the PAC while Grove City drops to 5-10-3 and 3-2-1 in the league. For a second straight year, the Titans have gone unbeaten in regular season league matches and have locked up the No. 1 seed in next week's PAC Tournament.
