BETHANY, W.Va. - The Westminster College men's soccer team won its sixth straight match and its third straight by way of a shutout Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
The Titans improve to 12-4 on the season and 4-0 in the PAC while Bethany drops to 1-12-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.
Westminster held a 1-0 lead throughout most of the game after senior Justin Rivas (Keller, Texas/Southlake Carroll) scored his second goal of the season in the 29th minute. The Titans didn't score again until sophomore Aaron Zavora (Westmoreland City, Pa./Norwin) potted his fourth goal of the season in the 78th minute and junior Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) netted his sixth goal of the year in the 80th minute.
The Titans held a 19-16 shot advantage but Westminster goalkeepers Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Lance Leathers (Pleasant Gap, Pa./Bellefonte) needed only two and one saves, respectively, to combine for the shutout.
Westminster steps out of conference play Friday when they travel to Case Western Reserve for a 7 p.m. match.
