PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team lost to Carnegie Mellon, 3-0, Saturday night in Pittsburgh. The Titans fall to 2-2 on the season while the Tartans improve to 2-0.
Carnegie Mellon scored two goals in the 19th minute by Jonathan Hall and Maximilian Betzig. Hall added another goal in the 33rd minute as the Tartans led 3-0 at the half before the teams held each other scoreless in the second half.
Westminster freshman goalkeeper Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) made five saves. The Tartans out-shot the Titans 17-9, while senior forward Andrew Saporito (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) accounted for five of Westminster's nine shots.
The Titans returns to action at Lake Erie on Wednesday, Sept. 12, for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
