BEAVER, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team improved its record to 4-2-1 on the season with a dominating 6-0 win at Penn State-Beaver on Tuesday night. The game marked the first meeting between to the two teams as this is the first year that Penn State-Beaver has fielded a varsity team.
Senior midfielder Garrett Horvath (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll) scored a hat trick with goals in the 19th, 35th and 63rd minutes to give him a team-high six goals on the season. His latter two goals were assisted by senior forward Andrew Saporito (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford).
Sophomore forward Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) netted two goals late in the game to give him five for the season. The other goal-scorer was freshman midfielder Aaron Zavora (Westmoreland City, Pa./Norwin) with his second of his career.
Freshman goalkeepers Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Lance Leathers (Pleasant Gap, Pa./Bellefonte) shared the shutout by making two saves apiece.
The Titans out-shot Penn State-Beaver, 27-4.
Westminster returns to action at home against Baldwin-Wallace on Tuesday, Sept. 25, for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
