NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 win over Bethany in the quarterfinal round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Championships at Wilmington High School Stadium in New Wilmington on Wednesday night.
Junior Steve Hogya (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute on an assist from classmate Chris Ellwanger (South Park, Pa./South Park). The goal was Hogya's first of the season and second of his career.
Senior J.R. Little (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) and sophomore Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) score insurance goals for the Titans with goals in the 41st and 55th minutes on assists from freshman Wade Grubbs (Chicora, Pa./Butler) and Stephen Rossi (Oakmont, Pa./Central Catholic), respectively.
The goals were Little's second of the season and Lott's 11th.
Freshman goalkeepers Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Lance Leathers (Pleasant Gap, Pa./Bellefonte) made four saves apiece for the Titans.ÂÂ
The Titans out-shot the Bison 29-15.
The Titans improve to 11-6-3, while the Bison finish the season 8-9-3. The Titans will play the winner of Cabrini and Swarthmore on Saturday at a time and location to be determined.
