GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 win Thursday at Thiel in the Titans' Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener.
The Titans improve to 5-5-2 and 1-0 in the PAC, while the Tomcats drop to 1-10-1 and 0-2 in the league.
Senior midfielder Garrett Horvath (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll) scored his team-high eighth and ninth goals of the season with a pair of goals in the 57th and 68th minutes. Horvath also assisted on senior forward Andrew Saporito's (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) goal in the 28th minute.
Freshman midfielder Shawn Flowers (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview) scored his first college goal, which was assisted by fittingly his brother, sophomore defender Justin Flowers (Verona, Pa./St. Joseph).
Freshman goalkeepers Mike Codita (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Lance Leathers (Pleasant Gap, Pa./Bellefonte) combined for the shutout. Codita made one save. The Titans out-shot the Tomcats, 28-3.
Westminster hosts Bethany Saturday at 1 p.m.
