WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Washington & Jefferson Wednesday night in the Titans' Presidents' Athletic Conference opener.
Senior forward Blake Ordell (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) netted the game's first goal for Westminster (1-2-1, 0-0-1 PAC) on an assist by junior Andrew Saporito (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) in the 26th minute.
Three minutes later the Presidents (1-4-1) tied the game on a header by Dan Hart, beating Titan goalkeeper Anthony Beilstein (Butler, Pa./Knoch), who made one save during the game.
The Titans out-shot the Presidents, 8-7, led by Ordell's four shot attempts.
There was no scoring in the second half, and play was suspended at the end of regulation due to thunderstorms.
Westminster returns to action this weekend for two matches held at Penn State Behrend, the first against La Roche at noon on Saturday and the second a 1 p.m. game against the host Lions on Sunday.ÂÂ
