Football: Westminster Loses Non-Conference Game at Frostburg State Saturday

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Westminster College football team suffered a 14-6 non-conference loss at Frostburg State Saturday.

The Titans' record falls to 2-6 on the season while the Bobcats improve to 2-5.

Westminster scored its lone touchdown with 12:23 remaining in the first quarter on a 23-yard fumble recovery and return by Josh Weese (Lisbon, Ohio/Beaver Local).

Frostburg State outgained Westminster in total yards, 338-226, including a decisive 246-51 advantage in rushing yards.

The Bobcats took the lead 7-6 with 3:46 remaining in the first quarter as running back Matt Clark scored on a 9-yard run capping off a nine-play, 57-yard drive.

Frostburg State quarterback Andre Dixon later scored on a 1-yard sneak play with 7:47 remaining in the first half, culminating a six-play, 32-yard drive.

The Titans last chance to score was thwarted by a nine-yard sack by Bobcat defensive lineman Justin Bressler with just over five minutes left in the game on Westminster's last trip into Bobcat territory at the 44-yard line.

Frostburg State running back Antoine Lewis rushed for a game-high 121 yards on 17 carries.

Westminster quarterback Kevin Franz (Finleyville, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) led the team with 18 yards rushing on five attempts and 14-of-33 passing for 175 yards.

Sophomore wide receiver Jordan Belosh (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) caught a team-high four passes for 68 yards.

Sophomore linebacker Jordan Blinn (Industry, Pa./Western Beaver) made a game-high 17 tackles to lead the Titan defense.
