CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Westminster College men's soccer team won a pair of matches during a weekend road trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. The Titans defeated Thomas More, 4-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match that was held at Xavier University on Saturday, before winning at Mount St. Joseph, 1-0, on Sunday in non-league play.
Westminster improves to 9-5-2 and 3-1 in the PAC with the victories.
Senior midfielder Todd Atwood (Colleyville, Texas/Colleyville Heritage) scored a pair of unassisted first-half goals for the Titans against Thomas More, before junior forward Andrew Saporito (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and freshman midfielder Matt Tomnay (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes) added second-half insurance goals.
Saporito's goal is his team-leading eighth of the season, followed by Atwood with his fifth and sixth goals on the year.
Goalkeepers Christopher Passione (Valencia, Pa./Mars) and Anthony Beilstein (Butler, Pa./Knoch) combined for the shutout, with Passione making one save as the Titans out-shot the Saints, 27-9.
In the win over Mount St. Joseph, freshman Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) scored the game's lone goal in the 38th minute on an assist from senior Blake Ordell (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser).
Beilstein registered the shutout, his second of the season, by making four saves as the Titans out-shot the Lions 26-9.
Westminster returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Bethany for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
