NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team edged visiting Grove City, 1-0, Wednesday as junior forward Andrew Saporito (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) scored the game-winning goal by potting his team-high sixth goal of the season.
Saporito beat Grove City goalkeeper Michael Manahan at the 64:37 mark in the second half on an assist by freshman Brice Lott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum).
Titan sophomore goalkeeper Christopher Passione (Valencia, Pa./Mars), in net for the third time this season, picked up his first shutout of the year by making five saves.
Westminster out-shot the Wolverines, 14-7.
The Titans improve to 1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) and 6-4-2 overall, while Grove City drops to 1-1 in the PAC and 6-4-1 overall.
Westminster travels to Saint Vincent Saturday at 3 p.m.
