The Presidents used a pair of Chris Edwards-to-Aaron Krepps TD passes (10, 7) in the first eight minutes to take an early 14-0 advantage. The Titans answered via the special teams, as senior RB Sean Buggey (Homer City/Homer-Center H.S.) took a W&J kickoff and posted a school-record 100-yard return for a TD to halve the lead to 14-7. The return broke the old school record of 92 yards set by Aldridge Jones in 1993. W&J answered with a 14-play drive that culminated with a 23-yard field goal by Kyle Sidebotham, putting the presidents ahead 17-7 after one period.

The Titans then were able to recover an onside kick on the kickoff at their 47, but a double-reverse pass by Westminster was intercepted at the W&J 30, ending the scoring threat.
The fourquarter opened with Edwards finding Krepps for their fourth score of the game from 35 yards out to build the President lead to 38-14. The Titans cut the lead to 38-20 when a W&J snap went over Edwards' head into the end zone, where it was recovered by Westminster senior DE Adam Hadbavny (Westmoreland City/Norwin H.S.). The Presidents then closed the scoring with a four-yard TD run by Mendel with 2:15 to play.
W&J outgained Westminster 431-207 in the contest, while the Presidents forced five Titan turnovers. Edwards was 19-of-35 passing for 278 yards and four TDs, with Krepps catching six balls for 86 yards and the four scores. R.J. Zitzelsberger rushed 16 times for 100 yards for W&J.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College football program fell to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC)cplay this afternoon at Harold Burry Stadium, as the Titans suffered a 45-20 loss to visiting conference rival Washington & Jefferson College (5-1, 1-1 PAC).
W&J scored the lone points of the second quarter on a two-yard scoring run by Ryan Mendel with 4:02 to play in the half, putting the Presidents on top 24-7 at halftime. The Titans had several scoring opportunities in the period, as Westminster started all four of its drives inside W&J territory, but the Blue & White were unable to take advantage.
After a third Edwards-to-Krepps scoring toss (this time from 27 yards) put W&J up 31-7, the Titans began to battle back. After recovering a fumble in W&J territory, Westminster cut the lead to 31-14 on an 18-yard halfback option pass for a touchdown from Buggey to sophomore wide receiver Brett Ziegler (Somerset/Somerset H.S.).
For the Titans, junior QB J.R. Barley (Beaver Falls/Blackhawk H.S.) completed 18-of-32 passes for 135 yards, but was intercepted three times. Barley was also the team's leading rusher with a net 28 yards on six carries, including a career-long 30-yard scamper in the second half. Sophomore WR Jason Discello (New Kensington/Valley H.S.) caught six balls for 38 yards for Westminster, while Ziegler had five catches for 65 yards and a score.
Defensively, Hadbavny led the way with nine tackles (seven solo), two fumble recoveries (one forthe TD) and a pair of sacks. Sophomore LB Greg Pfeifer (Pittsburgh/Shaler H.S.) had a team-high 10 total tackles (eight solo).
Westminster football will travel to Bethany, W.Va., next Saturday (Oct. 15), as the Titans face PAC rival Bethany College (1-5, 0-4 PAC) beginning at 1:30 p.m.
