Westminster College Athletics

Paul Sheaffer, who is being inducted posthumously, was a member of the original Titan soccer team in the late 1940s under the direction of coach Harold Burry. The team, which competed at Westminster beginning in 1946, was comprised of ex-G.I.s who had learned soccer while serving in the armed forces. He was also a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. A native of Lancaster, and graduate of Hempfield High School, he owned the Paul I. Sheaffer Insurance Agency in Intercourse. He was also active in a local amateur golf association and as a golf board member at the Lancaster Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, and four grown sons: Paul II, John, Michael, and Jeff.
