The man under center for the Titans in the late-1960's and early-1970's, Gene McNamara led Westminster in passing yards in consecutive seasons, first in the 1971 with 1,683 yards and 18 touchdowns, then in 1972 with 899 yards and 10 TD tosses. Westminster went 10-0 and won a National Collegiate Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II championship on Dec. 5, 1970 with a 21-16 over Anderson (Ind.) at New Castle's Taggart Stadium before 5,000 frigid fans, then 8-1-1 and 7-1 in 1971 and 1972, respectively, under the direction of Hall of Fame head coaches Harold Burry and Joe Fusco.
